The 30 mL/kg fluid resuscitation to all patients as per surviving sepsis campaign guidelines has been challenged in a nice article by Paul Marik that you may be interested to look at here:,greatest%20hoaxes%20of%20modern%20medicine.

The conclusion suggested that an individualized, hemodynamically guided and fluid restricted approach to fluid therapy will improve the outcomes of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock.

I think the CLASSIC trial (Restrictive Fluid in Septic Shock) results will be released in June and will shed more light on the topic before any change in the guidelines.
