Respiratory Failure & Mechanical Ventilation

Public·741 members

Double triggering: When the inspiratory time of the of the patient (patient Ti) is greater than the inspiratory time of the ventilator or respirator (ventilator Ti), the patient continues inspiration against the already closed inspiratory valve, causing the drop of Paw and, if the triggering threshold is exceeded, a new inspiratory cycle is started in which the second tidal ventilation (TV) adds to the first. Notice the rise of the pressure in the second stacked breath and the double tidal volume.
