I was called emergently to the bedside for a ruptured balloon cuff. Notice the expiratory flow and the area under the curve compared with the inspiratory flow. Loss of volume due to the leak and the deflated balloon.

The differance between inspiratory & expiratory tidal volume can be seen in the inspiratory & expiratory flow wave form, & the volume/flow loop, and parameters number in the ventilater.
