About the Event
These education sessions will be a comprehensive review of principles, modes, maneuvers, and practice of mechanical ventilation. Simulators will be used as learning tools to leverage the participant understanding of MV and enable an engaging and effective experience. The sessions are designed to equip each participant with the required knowledge, enabling them to enhance individual practice and improve outcomes.
OBJECTIVES:
This course is intended to provide you with up-to-date information to be able to:
- Understand the basic and advanced principles of respiratory failure.
- Understand and comprehend the basic and advanced modes of  mechanical ventilation
- Discuss different mechanical ventilation maneuvers related to disease management
- Clinical scenarios of different conditions
- Advanced interpretation of ventilator loops and their clinical implications
- Acquire knowledge on ventilator asynchrony on mechanical ventilation
- Liberation and weaning on mechanical ventilation.
EXPECTATIONS:Â
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to apply the acquired knowledge of respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation to clinical scenarios. The participants can expect to enhance their understanding of ventilator settings, mode selection, and troubleshooting. Participants should also be able to identify common pitfalls related to mechanical ventilation with better application of ventilator weaning protocols. They will also gain insights into the practical management of disease conditions in which mechanical ventilation is required. Additionally, they can expect to understand how to determine appropriate respiratory settings for mechanically ventilated patients and how to interpret and troubleshoot different types of ventilator loops. Upon completion, participants should be able to identify and respond effectively to clinical scenarios where mechanical ventilation may be required.Â
INTENDED AUDIENCE:
This program is intended for clinicians who have responsibility for the mechanical ventilatory management of critically ill or injured patients and seek basic and advanced knowledge in Mechanical Ventilation. These clinicians include the following:
- Adult critical care physicians.
- Critical care practitioners and critical care fellows.
- All physicians working in intensive care units and dealing directly with ventilated patients.
- Respiratory therapists and anesthesia technicians in training or practitioners.
